As a CMC scientist at Kernal Biologics, Pedro is working on building the company's process development, manufacturing, and quality capabilities. Prior to Kernal, he worked at Curia (acquired LakePharma) where he successfully planned and executed several RNA downstream process development projects to support GMP manufacturing. He also characterized RNA samples for purity and integrity, participated in the IVT and capping optimization of several RNA molecules. In his graduate work, he specialized in structurally guided reprogramming of metalloenzymes under the supervision of Dr. Amie K. Boal. He is the first person in his family to get a degree in science and complete a Ph.D. degree. When he is not working, he is enjoying time with his husband and two dogs, cooking, or traveling to visit family and friends. He earned a B.Sc. in Biomedical Science with a minor in Chemistry from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Penn State University.
